1st Cavalry Division confirms death of Fort Cavazos soldier

FORT CAVAZOS, Texas (KWTX) - EDITORS NOTE: In their initial statement, the 1st Cavalry Division of Public Affairs provided the incorrect age for Pfc. Crumidy. His age has been corrected.

The 1st Cavalry Division on Wednesday announced the loss of Private First Class Keshawn X. Crumidy, 22, who passed away on March 11.

Pfc. Crumidy was a Unit Supply Specialist in the 15th Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team “Black Jack” and 1st Cavalry Division.

He entered active duty in 2023 and started serving at Fort Cavazos in June 2023.

The 1st Cavalry Division of Public Affairs says the chain of command is in contact with PFC. Crumidy’s friends and family to offer support.

Additionally, the 1st Cavalry Division of Public Affairs says they are working with authorities to help an ongoing investigation by the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division.
