CENTRAL TEXAS (KWTX) - Wedding venues in Central Texas are fully booked out for The Great American Eclipse on April 8.

For both Deerfield Estates in Waco and Cathedral Oaks in Belton, it’s the first time they’ve had to navigate people wanting to book with them just for the eclipse.

At Deerfield Estates a family reunion will be taking place.

“They booked back in 2022 and I’ve gotten multiple messages from them, they’re super excited,” Deerfield Estates operator Kaitlynn Wright said.

The family didn’t just reserve the main event space, they got all six of the cabins onsite, for the entire week.

”We have yard games, activities, and everything else for them to enjoy,” Wright said. “We’ll have activities inside the event space and they can eat there as well.”

At Cathedral Oaks in Belton a couple from Granbury has booked out the space for their wedding on the big day.

”Right at 1:30 during totality they’re going to have all the special events taking place at that point,” Allison Wolfe, Cathedral Oaks property manager, said.

At an eclipse town hall Wolfe learned that Bell County’s population could nearly double the days around the eclipse, so she’s taking extra precautions.

”We’ve done some things like additional security measures for the day of to make sure our parking lot is safe, so our event can go on without a hitch,” Wolfe said.

Both venues said these events come as a welcome change because business is usually slower on Mondays.

”This is definitely a different type of event,” Wright said. “I think they knew about the eclipse and were looking forward to it and that’s probably why they booked the whole week.”
