Restaurant Report Card for Central Texas: 2.8.24

(KWTX) - Here is this week’s restaurant report card for Central Texas.

Cathay House at 825 Wooded Acres Drive in Waco failed a re-inspection with a 60.

According to the food safety worker’s report, the raw chicken, crab mix, and sweet-and-sour fried chicken were not kept at the proper temperature.

Some cooked rice was thrown out, along with cooked egg rolls, cooked chicken and vegetables.

The report states there was slime residue inside the sanitizer buckets, and a black substance on the ice deflector.

Taqueria El Mexicano Grill #9 at 1420 North Valley Mills Drive in Waco failed a re-inspection with an 88.

According to the food safety worker, the raw beef, carne al pastor, cooked sausage, raw hamburgers, shrimp, shredded cheddar, pork tamales, and chicken tenders were not stored in the proper temperature.

The food had to be dumped.

The sanitizer bucket did not have a detectable amount of sanitizer solution.

Burger King #3714 at 103 East Loop 340 in Lacy Lakeview failed a re-inspection with a 90.

According to the food safety worker, the ice cream machine’s milk-based soft serve mix was not kept at the right temperature.

All of the restaurants in this week’s report will need to undergo a re-inspection.

The Burger King was penalized with a fine.
