SOMERVILLE, Texas (KBTX) - News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion Bryanna Surovik. The Somerville High School Senior has a 3.79 grade point average and ranks 4th in her class.

Bryanna serves as Senior Class President and volunteers with the FFA, 4-H, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and the Buddy Champion Drive.

“Bryanna is definitely very hardworking. She sets very high standards for herself. She is always working on new ideas for the senior class,” said Social Studies teacher Georgia Thormer.

Athletically Bryanna is on the Yegua basketball, powerlifting, and track teams. In her junior year, Bryanna was named 2nd team All District in Basketball and also awarded Defensive MVP. She has also been the Varsity Cheer Captain since her sophomore year and was given The All-American Cheer award.

“She’s definitely one of the hardest workers, especially in the weight room. She’s always eager and ready to get on to something new. She steps up and really cheers on everybody else during practice or even at our meets,” said head powerlifting coach Logan Naiser. “And she’s always there being super supportive, even when they don’t make their meets or make their weights that they’re supposed to meet.”

After high school, Bryanna wants to go to Blinn and transfer to Texas A&M to major in Special Education and Minor in Psychology. Her time with the Buddy Champion Drive and her role as Cheer Captain helped her realize what she really wants to do in life.

“As cheer captain, we do have a special needs cheerleader with us, and she’s been with this for a few years. Just being able to help her and teach her something that I’m passionate about really showed me that I do want to help special education students,” said Bryanna Surovik.

Congratulations to Bryanna Surovik of Somerville High School. This week’s News 3 Sports Classroom Champion.
