Man rescued from Willamette River after jumping from sea wall

PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - Portland Fire responded to the scene of a potential drowning after a man jumped from the sea wall near the Burnside Bridge at approximately 1 p.m. on Friday, July 5.

After the individual jumped, a nearby boat noticed a man in the water in distress and called officials.

With thousands flocking to rivers, lakes and beaches around Portland this weekend, safety officials say they’re scheduling extra people to prepare.

Portland Fire arrived on the scene to where the individual had been given a lifejacket and were then able to rescue him via a Portland Fire boat and transport him safely back to shore.
