Beaverton, Washington Co. cooling centers open this weekend

WASHINGTON COUNTY Ore. (KPTV) - As a heatwave settles across Portland, Beaverton and Washington County prepared additional heat shelters.

Beaverton cooling centers will be open Friday through at least Monday, free of charge at these locations:

  • Beaverton City Library Main - extended hours until 9 p.m.
  • Murray Scholls Branch

Beaverton community members can stay up-to-date on details on the Beaverton website.

In addition to the Beaverton centers, Washington County opened no-turn-away shelters opening noon on Friday until the extreme heat ends.

Two inclement weather shelters will be available:

  • Washington Street Conference Center operated by Project Homeless Connect
    • accessible via TriMet route numbers 57 and max blue line
  • Beaverton Community Center operated by Just Compassion
    • accessible via TriMet route numbers 52, 76 and 78
