PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - Eight people and at least two cats were displaced by a fire after a grill fell over on Thursday evening.

Portland Fire & Rescue was called to the North Tabor Neighborhood near Montavilla Park around 9 p.m. for a triplex home.

When firefighters arrived they found the attic and outside of the home in flames. The living spaces inside had no evidence of fire damage.

Fireworks purchased outside the city started 33 fires last year in Portland on the Fourth of July, with most of them coming from Washington state.

The command chief called a second alarm because of the heavy fire in the attic, but crews took control of the fire before additional firefighters arrived.

PF&R said the fire started due to a grill falling over and igniting the side of the home, running up the wall and spreading into the attic. Everyone living at the home was displaced and Red Cross was contacted to help with relocation.

No injuries were reported.
