PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - A 24-year-old man was found guilty on Wednesday of a July 2022 deadly drive-by shooting near a Gresham TriMet MAX station, according to the Multnomah Co. District Attorney’s Office.

A Multnomah County jury found Isai Ramos Damian guilty of shooting and killing 42-year-old Gladis Mendoza-Hernandez and injuring a second man on July 6, 2022 near East Burnside Street and Northeast 148th Avenue.

Detectives determined that Ramos Damian shot from a car at Mendoza-Hernandez and two men as he drove past them shortly before midnight that night.

Police found Mendoza-Hernandez dead at the scene and one of the men suffering from gunshot injuries to his lower extremities, police said. He was taken to the hospital, from which he was later discharged.

The U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force arrested Ramos Damian in Gresham on Feb. 28, 2023 and he was booked into custody in Multnomah County where he has remained.

On Wednesday, the jury found Ramos Damian guilty of the following charges:

  • One count of second-degree murder with a firearm
  • Two counts of first-degree attempted murder with a firearm
  • One count of second-degree assault with a firearm
  • Four counts of unlawful use of a weapon with a firearm

Ramos Damian is scheduled to be sentenced on July 12 by Judge Amy Baggio. He will continue to remain in custody in Multnomah County.
