LINCOLN COUNTY, Ore. (KPTV) - Two people are dead and three others are recovering from serious injuries after a crash on Highway 20 on Monday night, according to Oregon State Police.

Just after 6:30 p.m., emergency crews responded to a three-vehicle crash on Highway 20, near milepost 30, east of Toledo. OSP says an investigation showed a westbound Toyota Rav4 tried to pass a Dodge Ram 2500 with a trailer and hit an eastbound Acura TL. The collision caused all three vehicles to come to an uncontrolled rest on the highway.

The driver of the Toyota, identified as 29-year-old Jose Manuel Zapata, of Portland, died at the scene. OSP says Zapata was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Acura, identified as 34-year-old Scott Thomas Novotny, of Newport, was taken to an area hospital. Novotny later died at the hospital.
