PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - The Rose Festival hosted an event for grownups Thursday in Downtown Portland.

The Starry Night Wine Walk was a laid-back way to sample Oregon wines and support small businesses.

Organizers laid out empty wine glasses for people to take on a self-guided walking tour through downtown.

Nine different businesses on the route had wines available to taste.

A band director in Battle Ground who is retiring will not only be leading his band in his final march, but he’ll also be leading the Grand Floral Parade.

The hosts say walks like these are a great way to spend an afternoon.

“You go and you start tasting the wines and you end up checking stuff out in the store and then you’ll notice a friend and they’ll come in and hang out and talk,” said Amy Maxwell the CEO of Ticket Tomato, the ticket company managing the event. “It just creates a lot of liveliness and energy.”

Proceeds from the wine walk will benefit the Rose Festival Foundation.
