Oregon Zoo’s beloved red panda diagnosed with heart condition
PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - Moshu the red panda is a 12-year-old Oregon Zoo resident recently diagnosed with a heart condition.
According to a post on Facebook, a few months ago keepers noticed Moshu’s behavior change and had an exam done on him. They said he was lethargic and acting strangely.
The vet diagnosed him with a “severe heart disease” and placed him on medication to address it. The medication is the same given to many cats and dogs.
The zoo has adjusted Moshu’s schedule so he gets the proper care he needs throughout the day, including cold laser therapy once a month and a heating pad to sleep on.
Zoo staff is making sure to keep Moshu comfortable with plenty of soaked biscuits and apple snacks to keep him satisfied.
