As that upper-level ridge begins to move in over the Northwest this weekend, it will gain strength, and that’s going to literally bring the heat! While temperatures on Saturday will be very similar to Friday’s highs, Sunday is a different ballgame. We’re in for a few days of record-breaking temperatures around here, and a couple of more twists and turns.
After a cool start to the day, Saturday will warm to near 90 degrees in the central sound area, the low-to-mid 90s in the south sound area, and likely the low-to-mid 80s in the north sound. You’ll also notice a breeze Saturday much like Friday’s.
RED FLAG WARNING – When high temperatures, dry conditions, and winds come together, a Red Flag warning is declared, meaning conditions are ripe for wildfire. The warning in effect Saturday through Tuesday right now is for the western slopes of the North and Central Cascade Mountains.
We’ll also be keeping an eye on air quality. On Friday, we advanced from “good” to “moderate” because of smoke in the air, and the heat. Because it’s just going to get hotter, it might take a while for “good” air to return.
Our Weather Warn Days for now are Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, when afternoon highs will be there hottest. Most likely the mid-to-upper 80s in the north sound, low 90s in the Seattle-area, and close to 100 in the south sound.
Please keep an eye on your elderly neighbors in this heat, and your pet’s water dish :)
