ST. LOUIS (First Alert 4) -- One of the most anticipated developments in St. Louis City will open this weekend, bringing several St. Louis restaurants under one roof on Delmar Boulevard.

Steve’s Hot Dogs, The Fountain on Delmar and Alpha Brewing Company Distillery will open this weekend as part of a new venture in the Delmar Makers District. The spot once housed a car wash and car detail, and it’s been revamped and redeveloped into a restaurant hub.

“We’ve always been about community and I think they recognized that when extended the invitation.000 Once they explained their vision for the neighborhood, supporting what‘s already here and expanding to it and connecting people on both sides of Delmar and creating a gathering spot, we saw the vision too, and we were all in,” said Danni Eickenhorst, co-owner of Steve’s Hot Dogs and The Fountain.

The Fountain on Delmar will serve up the popular boozy ice cream cocktails and ice cream and act as a cafe in the mornings.

“We know this neighborhood really wanted a coffee shop,” said Eickenhorst.

Steve’s Hot Dogs will serve up the classic favorites plus some menu items special to the new spot. The space is decked out in old concert posters, including one from Steve Ewings’ first show with The Urge.

Five years ago, Ewing almost closed Steve’s Hot Dogs for good; now they’re expanding across the city.

“I’m excited to be in this new area, which has been nothing for a long time, and be part of the growth,” said Ewing.

Alpha Brewing Company Distillery will also open in the space this weekend. The floor-to-ceiling glass windows show off the large copper still, which they’ll use to make their spirits. The Tower Grove brewery is excited to be a part of the development.

“Different neighborhood, different product line,” said owner Derrick Langeneckert. He says he’s excited for collaboration, including with Third Degree Glass down the street for some of their bottles.

Rounding out the space will be Nixta, the popular Mexican restaurant from Ben Poremba, which will reopen in the complex after its doors have been shut down in the Botanical Heights neighborhood. It’s expected to open later this year.

It will continue Poremba’s move to Delmar. Just a few blocks east are his new restaurants, Esca and Florentin.

Eickenhorst told First Alert 4 it’s exciting to bring new spots to a street often known as a divide in the St. Louis community.

“Here you’ve got a space where everyone can gather. Adults, children, feel safe, hang out, stay; we’ll have live music regularly. We’ll have a little bit of everything for everyone,” she said.

Steve’s Hot Dogs opens on July 12. There will be a grand opening party for Steve’s, The Fountain and Alpha Brewing on July 13 featuring live music.
