Shooting leaves 7 injured in Downtown St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A 13-year-old and six other people were wounded by gunfire in shootings around midnight a block apart in Downtown.

St. Louis Police said officers responded to a shooting call around midnight near the intersection of 8th and Pine Streets and found four victims had been driven to the hospital after being shot.

The victims told officers they were walking when they heard gunfire and began to run. They then realized they had been shot, police said.

All four victims, two men ages 18 and 20, and two women aged 18, were listed in stable condition.

At around the same time, a 13-year-old was found with a gunshot wound just a block away at the intersection of 7th and Chestnut Streets. EMS took the victim to a hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

Also, at around the same time, officers were dispatched to another area hospital where two 23-year-old men arrived with gunshot wounds. Both were listed in stable condition.

Both victims told police they were watching people illegally discharge fireworks near 7th and Chestnut Streets when they felt pain and realized they had been shot. They then asked a passing driver to take them to a hospital.

Police said the investigation is ongoing. First Alert 4 will update this story when additional details are available.
