ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) — Inclement weather forced some 4th of July celebrations to be delayed, rescheduled or canceled.

In Bridgeton, the annual Independence parade started an hour late because of rain. However, organizers decided to cancel the evening fireworks show.

“I was kind of bummed,” said Brian Nagel.

In St. Charles, Riverfest organizers are going ahead with tonight’s fireworks show at 9:20 p.m., but all festivities in Frontier Park are canceled tomorrow.

Organizers told First Alert 4 that the rain-swollen Missouri River is rising and that part of the park is expected to be flooded by Saturday. Workers and vendors will need Friday to pack up and move equipment out of the park before it floods.

Celebrate St. Louis is planning to proceed with its show in downtown St. Louis. First Alert 4 will live stream the fireworks as they happen. The show is scheduled to start at 9:42 p.m.
