FARMINGTON, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A water main break early Wednesday at Farmington Correctional Center has been fixed and visitation will take place this weekend as usual.

Missouri Department of Corrections told First Alert 4 on Thursday that maintenance crews have repaired the break and water is restored throughout the facility. The visiting room has been cleaned and inmate visits with family and friends will be held Friday through Sunday.

Due to flood damage, access to the children’s area may be limited, the department said.

On Wednesday morning, a broken main underneath one of the central building interrupted cold water supplies to about half the facility, which affected sinks and toilets. Inmates were given bottled water and portable toilets as maintenance crews worked to repair the break.

The prison is one of the largest in the state and at capacity can house 2,632 male offenders, according to state data.
