DALLAS, Tx. (First Alert 4) - St. Louis CITY SC took a hard loss Saturday against FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium. The final score of the match was 2-0 in favor of the home team.

Saturday’s match in Dallas was marred with injuries, yellow cards and missed opportunities for St. Louis. The biggest loss of the night didn’t come from the score but from Célio Pompeu going down with a serious leg injury and being carted off the field by local EMS.

Joakim Nilsson also left the match in Dallas early for an injury. CITY’s co-captain Tim Parker will also be out for their next match on Wednesday due to yellow card accumulation.

The team will meet up again Wednesday to face Colorado in front fans at CITYPARK.

Twelve minutes first half, CITY midfielder Célio Pompeu was taken off of the field by stretcher after a nasty collision with a Dallas player.

In minute 26 Dallas converted a penalty kick following a foul in the box by Joakim Nilsson that earned him a yellow card.

Tim Parker was shown a yellow card in minute 34, meaning he will be suspended for CITY’s next match due to yellow card accumulation. In the same play, Nilsson was taken off the field for an apparent hamstring injury.

Despite several attempts, St. Louis was unable to level the score before the end of the first half. Dallas went into the second half ahead by one.

FC Dallas doubled their lead in minute 80 after a header met the back of the net from a corner kick.

Tonight’s match will be the second time the two teams have played this season. The first match was in April at CITYPARK and ended in a scoreless tie. St. Louis, No. 11 in the Western Conference standings, is looking to break a five-game winless streak against Western Conference No. 13 Dallas.

CITY will likely go into this match against Dallas with a slightly different lineup. Rasmus Alm and Tomáš Ostrák are both out with injuries, and Chris Durkin is out due to yellow card accumulation. CITY defender Kyle Hiebert will also be out for several weeks after CITY announced Saturday that he was called up for the Canadian Men’s National Team for the 2024 CONMEBOL Copa America.

Saturday morning, CITY announced that they’d signed a short-term loan agreement to pull up 24-year-old Missouri native and midfielder John Klein from CITY2.

St. Louis desperately needs three points from a victory in Texas tonight. They lag behind in MLS standings and threaten not to make the playoffs.
