IN OMAHA. CAL LARSEN KETV NEWSWATCH 7. BILL: IT IS CERTAINLY FEELING LIKE FALL. A TIME WHERE WE START TO MAKE THE TRANSITION INTO THE COLDER MONTHS OF THE YEAR. WHILE WE’VE SEEN OCTOBER SNOW IN THE PAST. SEPTEMBER SNOW IS A RARE OCCURENCE. METEOROLOGIST SEAN EVERSON TAKES US BACK 37 YEARS AGO TODAY IN OUR WEATHER NOW EXTRA. >> I KNOW IT’S WAY TOO SOON TO BE TALKING ABOUT SNOW BUT SEPTEMBER 29, 1985 WAS A SIGNIFICANT DAY. IT IS THE EARLIEST WE HAD MEASURABLE SNOW ON RECORD. IT WASN’T A LOT, ONLY .3 INCHES BUT IN THE VIDEO HERE YOU CAN SEE IT ACCUMULATING ON PLANTS, THE SNOW STICKING TO ROOFTOPS, THE YARDS THERE ON TOP OF THAT CAR. NOT ON THE DRIVEWAYS, THOUGH. IT LOOKS LIKE SLUSH WHICH WE TYPICALLY SEE FROM THESE EARLY-SEASON EVENTS. ROADS THAT DAY JUST WET AS YOU CAN SEE CARS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THERE WITH THEIR WIPERS ON THE SNOWFLAKES FALLING. GOOD NEWS, NO NEED TO WORRY. I OMAHA, WE NORMALLY GET ZERO ACCUMULATED SNOW ON AVERAGE FOR THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER AND ONLY HALF AN INCH FOR THE ENTIRE MONTH OF OCTOBER. OUR FORECAST SHOWS NOT ONL

It's certainly feeling like fall in Omaha.It's the time of year when we start to make the transition into the colder months. While Nebraska has seen October snow in the past, September snow is a rare occurrence. Meteorologist Sean Everson takes us back 37 years ago on Sept. 29, 1985, in our Weather Now Extra. It's the earliest Omaha has ever had measurable snow on record. It wasn't a lot — only 0.3 inches. Omaha normally gets zero accumulating snow on average for September and only 0.5 inches for October. And KETV NewsWatch 7's extended forecast shows not only zero snow, but no sign of freezing temperatures as Omaha heads into the first few weeks of October.
