A 40-year-old cold case murder out of Placer County is now cracked, according to the district attorney’s office.
Detectives arrested 59-year-old Richard Moore in connection with the case. Moore appeared in court for the first time Monday where he pleaded not guilty to charges of murder, kidnapping, and rape.

The attack happened in 1984 on Atlantic and Branstetter streets in Roseville. Prosecutors said evidence collected at the scene indicated Moore dragged the victim into an alley and killed her.
The DA's office said its investigations unit along with the Roseville Police Department and the FBI's Sacramento field office broke the case after four decades of investigation.
Moore was arrested in Los Angeles on June 27 by the Los Angeles Police Department and the FBI's Los Angeles field office.
Placer County District Attorney Morgan Gire appeared in court on behalf of the district attorney's office and said that Moore is charged with murder with special allegations relating to kidnapping and rape.
Moore was appointed a public defender and is set to be back in court on July 22.
