Melanie Wingo

Melanie Wingo joined KCRA as a general assignment reporter in February 2020, returning to the television news business after serving in public relations roles throughout Sacramento for more than six years.

Prior to starting at KCRA, Melanie worked as media relations/community manager for Sacramento-headquartered media company McClatchy. Melanie also served as marketing/media relations manager for Sacramento’s Powerhouse Science Center and as communications/social media manager for Davis-based California Center for Public Health Advocacy.

Before moving to Northern California, Melanie worked as a reporter, anchor and newscast producer at television stations in Portland, San Diego and Medford, Oregon. She began her career working in newsrooms in Boston and Providence as a production assistant and assignment desk assistant.

She holds a degree in broadcast journalism from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. Melanie is originally from Southern California. Now she’s thankful to call Folsom — where she lives with her husband and three children — home.
