BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - Millions across Southeast Texas have been left without power in the wake of Beryl. This is of particular concern as temperatures are forecast to climb into the mid-90s each afternoon. These conditions are not out of the ordinary, but without proper access to cooling, the risk of heat related illnesses is significantly elevated. Considering these circumstances, the National Weather Service has issued Heat Advisories for a majority of the Brazos Valley until Wednesday evening at 8 PM. These advisories may be reissued through the rest of the week if power is not restored.

For residents without electricity, please make sure you are taking all the necessary steps to keep yourself cool! Wear loose, lightweight clothing, drink plenty of fluids, and take cool showers/baths. If you need to find a way to beat the heat, you can find a list of cooling centers here.

As we swiftly transition from hurricane readiness to heat safety, remember to check in on family, friends, and furry companions throughout the rest of the week. As always stay safe and stay as cool as possible!
