Cooling centers available for residents without electricity

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - Cooling centers are being opened in Madison and Grimes Counties, as crews work to restore power for residents and local businesses following Tropical Storm Beryl.

First Baptist Church of Madisonville has opened its doors to help those without electricity. They are also providing assistance for those who rely on home medical equipment and oxygen, and providing ways to recharge and power the equipment. The church is located at 300 S. Elm St.

There is also a cooling center for Grimes County residents at the Bedias Civic Center. The center is located at 3652 Main St.

Other cooling centers include:

- Pine Baptist Church in Hempstead open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

- Leon County Annex in Centerville open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

- Livingston Public Library open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

- Trinity ISD Boardroom at 101 W Jefferson St
