BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - Beryl made landfall as a Category 1 hurricane early Monday near Matagorda, and continues its northeastward track through the afternoon. Beryl will continue to weaken as it moves inland, but tropical storm force winds are still expected as it moves through the area, especially within the eastern counties.

4pm Update: Wind is calming, and rain is moving out of the area! It’ll still be gusty for a couple more hours across our eastern counties, but the worst is over for the Brazos Valley.

1pm Update:

Beryl has been downgraded to a Tropical Storm since the 10am advisory, which put peak winds at 70mph. While the bulk of the rain and wind activity has moved out of the Brazos Valley, there is still some light rainfall and gusty winds filling in behind the remnants of Tropical Storm Beryl. That being said, you can still expect flooding conditions through Tuesday and leftover severe weather potential throughout our eastern counties until 10 p.m. on Monday.

1pm Update: A Tornado WATCH that includes Walker, San Jacinto, Trinity, and Houston counties continues until 10pm Monday.
