BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - Hurricane Beryl has officially made landfall near Matagorda at 4 am Monday morning.

While Beryl stayed a tropical storm for much of the weekend, strengthening was noted enough to upgrade Beryl to a hurricane ahead of landfall in between Matagorda and Galveston bays.

For the Brazos Valley, WIND remains the biggest threat through the early afternoon. Beryl will weaken over the course of the day, and move northeastward in and out of the area. Travel is highly discouraged through early afternoon, with flooding and strong wind likely, especially across our eastern counties.
