BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - Acting Governor Dan Patrick appeared on KBTX Sunday night to give an update on the states preparations for Beryl.

He’s serving as Acting Governor for the storm as Governor Abbott is leading an economic development mission in Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan.

Patrick addressed College Station area viewers saying he wants people here to know the state cares about them, not just the coast and that wants everyone to be alert. He says the area will see a lot of rain with significant flooding.

He says the state is asking everyone in the path of this storm to try to stay home Monday morning. He also reminds people not to drive on flooded roads.

He also says the state is ready to work with local officials during and after the storm.

Over the past two days, Patrick has given briefings on the state’s preparations. Both times he has mentioned our area.

“Areas like College Station could see significant rain and flooding. So could Tyler, Texarkana and other communities. Once again, that’s on this track. If this track moves, which it often does in the last 12 hours to 15 hours of a hurricane coming ashore, then all communities inland should be prepared for heavy rain and potential flooding. And that’s why you need to listen to your local officials,” said Patrick.

Saturday Patrick added 81 counties to the state’s Hurricane Beryl Disaster Declaration, which includes all of the Brazos Valley.
