BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - At least 11 people are dead across the Caribbean as tropical storm Beryl slammed into Mexico’s coast.

It should weaken, but then regain strength towards Texas as we brace for possible severe weather.

Walker County Emergency Management Coordinator Butch Davis said that the county is still feeling the effects of flooding from previous storms that have made their way across the Brazos Valley.

“We’re still working very hard on getting into a recovery mode. We just now got most of our subdivisions along the Trinity River out of flood stage. So we’re putting the word out that they need to be prepared because we could have another big push of rain,” he said.

Davis said Walker County is putting the word out to prepare as much as possible before the storm makes landfall here in Texas.

“We have an app, it’s the Office of Emergency Management app. We are putting out notices for people to be prepared to get stocked up in case we do get more than what they’re saying. And we have to lose power stuff and people to have the right supplies on hand. Plenty of drinking water and nonperishable foods to just get their household plan together for these kinds of events and be ready for them,” he said.
