Scott Breaks School Record, Moves to Fifth in NCAA History

EUGENE – Texas A&M track & field’s Ja’Qualon Scott downed his own school record in the men’s 110m hurdles to move to fifth in NCAA history on the sixth day of the U.S. Olympic Team Trials Friday at Hayward Field.
Scott had another career day, as he broke his own school record which he set four days prior in the men’s 110m hurdles final. He crossed the line in 13.09 which placed him fifth overall in the event and now ranks him fifth all-time in NCAA history.
Aggie great and two-time Olympian Maggie Malone Hardin opened her trials campaign in the women’s javelin. She recorded a toss of 62.40m/204-9 on her first and only attempt to ensure her spot in Sunday’s final.
The Maroon & White booked another pair of finals spots on the fifth day of trials, as Brandon Miller in the 800m and James Smith in the 400m hurdles both qualified to their respective finals. Miller advanced second overall with a personal-best time of 1:43.73, while Smith was a timed qualifier bringing it home in 49.43.
The women’s 100m hurdles duo of Kaylah Robinson and Jaiya Covington booked their semifinals tickets with times of 13.08 and 13.14, respectively.
Canadian Trials
Heather Abadie competed in the women’s pole vault at the Canadian Olympic Trials, as the two-time SEC champion secured a third-place finish with a clearance of 4.28m/14-0.5.
Jamaican Trials
Abigail Martin was the second Aggie to compete in the Jamaican Olympic Trials, as the freshman standout placed third in the discus with a mark of 57.24m/187-9.
Up Next
The Aggies return to Hayward Field Saturday where Covington and Robinson compete in the semifinals of the 100m hurdles. They are followed by Shamier Little and Deshae Wise in the 400m hurdles semifinals and finally Natosha Rogers in the 10,000m.
