5-year-old boy dies after getting tangled in ropes when boat capsizes on lake
SHERWOOD SHORES, Texas (KXII/Gray News) - A child has died in Texas after the boat he was on capsized during a recent thunderstorm.
Texas authorities said a boat carrying eight people flipped over on Lake Texoma Wednesday night when a severe thunderstorm moved through the area.
The personal fishing vessel capsized near Juniper Point.
According to Texas Game Wardens, the people on board were wearing life jackets, but a 5-year-old boy became tangled in ropes under the boat and died.
Authorities and family later identified the boy as Jasper Mckinney.
Jasper’s body was pulled from the lake, and first responders said he had a pulse but was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The boy’s family has started a GoFundMe to help with funeral costs.
