BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - Recently, multiple musicians from Navasota placed in The Sound of Small Town America competition held by the Inspirational Country Music Association.

Michelle Kay, one of the winners, joined First News at Four to discuss her third-place win.

Michelle said the competition started in Navasota and eventually moved on to Nashville.

“They picked about seven or eight of us in Navasota to move on. And then there were three other competitions held around more the southern States and we competed against them. It was, I think, a total of 31 people that came. And all of them were absolutely amazing,” she said.

Michelle got the opportunity to play the Grande Ole Opry in Nashville at the end of the competition and said she would do it again because she loved it so much.

“It was literally one of the most amazing biggest lessons in my life as a musician. Like, that’s where you want to go eventually. And I got to do it now,” she said.
