BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - Sunday, April 28, 2024 was a long day of severe weather for the Brazos Valley. Storms produced hail, damaging winds, heavy rain, and at least one confirmed tornado.
The National Weather Service conducted a survey that has confirmed an EF-1 tornado impacted the Rock Creek Subdivision in Trinity between 7:35 and 7:36 pm Sunday evening. The maximum sustained winds are estimated to have been around 100 mph. The tornado traveled approximately 500 yards, creating a path of damage 200 yards wide. In this path, widespread tree and vehicle damage was observed. The tornado destroyed one home in the subdivision, injuring two of its occupants.
Tuesday afternoon, The National Weather Service will be sending out a team to Bedias and Madisonville to survey damage from a separate storm that potentially produced a tornado in the general area west of Route 90. The storm in question is depicted in the above image.
