BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - The KBTX team took home four Texas Broadcast News Awards over the weekend.

Karla Castillo took home Best News Anchor. Shel Winkley claimed Best Weather Anchor. Rusty Surettee was recognized for his deadline editing of a shooting in Downtown Bryan. Morgan Riddell’s In Depth series won her the Best Serious Feature award

KBTX was also nominated for Multimedia/Digital Storytelling and Overall Texas Broadcast Excellence.

The Texas Association of Broadcasters introduced the Texas Broadcast News Awards program in 2022. The program recognizes outstanding broadcast journalism produced by member Radio and TV stations serving local communities throughout the state
