BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - Monday’s cold front brought rain and strong storms to portions of the Brazos Valley. As of 4:45pm Monday afternoon, the severe threat is over for the Brazos Valley. Below is a running list of updates from that afternoon.

As the potential for severe weather continues Monday afternoon The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Tornado Watch for the central and southern portions of the Brazos Valley. Here are the details:

WHEN: Until 9pm Monday night

WHO: Austin, Waller, Montgomery, and San Jacinto Counties

WHAT: A few tornadoes, wind gusts up to 70mph, and isolated hail up to the size of an egg in the strongest storms.

At the time of the watch, the line of rain and storms is moving through the northern and into the central portions of the Brazos Valley. As this line moves southward, the dynamics are more conducive to see stronger storms get up and going. While the watch is ongoing until 9pm, latest guidance shows the concern locally will be passed by 5-6pm.

This line has already brought gusty and damaging winds to the northern half of the Brazos Valley with radar estimated winds up to 50mph in areas like Milam and Robertson counties. Any storm can tap into the instability overhead will need to be monitored through early evening. Monday is a day to stay weather aware and up to date online, on air, and on the PinPoint Weather App.
