BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - Bryan resident Rose Thompson has shown a tireless commitment to enriching the lives of the children in her community and her work has not gone unnoticed.

Rose Thompson, the founder of a group aptly named “Miss Rose’s Babies,” has been on a mission to expose the youth in Aggieland to a world of opportunities that often lie beyond their immediate horizons. Thompson, a long-time Bryan resident, has dedicated most of her adult life to this noble cause. However, in April, she officially christened her initiative “Miss Rose’s Babies,” a platform aimed at guiding youngsters between the ages of 6 and 13 toward colleges, careers, and activities that they might not have had the opportunity to experience otherwise.

“I’ve been doing this most of my adult life. I just put a name with it in April, calling it Mrs. Rose’s Babies. I want to expose them to it so they know that they will have choices in life,” said the passionate Thompson.

Thompson’s field trips were initiated on her personal time and her own expenses. Over time, the impact of her endeavors has continued to grow. She is currently working towards transforming her program into a nonprofit organization, ensuring that her vision for the future remains sustainable.

The Be Remarkable award for this week was prompted by a nomination from Thompson’s longtime neighbor and friend, Jacque Alexander, who has had a front-row seat to her transformative work.

“She has taken them to A&M. She has taken some out to different farms. She teaches them Entrepreneurship. They have had different things around campus where they are selling products that they have made themselves, cookies, bracelets, jewelry, and all kinds of different things. So she has had this mission for quite some time,” explained Alexander, highlighting the profound impact Thompson’s initiative has had on the community.

When asked about the driving force behind her selfless efforts, Thompson stated, “My favorite is the smiles on their faces and fulfilling my passion.” Her dedication is centered on ensuring that the children in her community are aware of the myriad opportunities available to them.
