Make sure the vehicle is full of gas upon pick up. The gas tank indicator on the instrument panels on many vehicles are not very accurate, and can be off by a considerable amount of litres of gas. Also give yourself enough time for the return of the vehicle, especially if you have to catch a flight. This rental agency is very busy.

The staff running the car return was friendly and accommodating, especially when I had to return and ask about an item I had forgotten in my rental car. Service representative was the least helpful person I've ever had at any rental car company. Pickup document showed full gas tank but was actually one quarter full. Luckily I took a photo before I drove off with the odometer and fuel tank level. When dropping off, told the same rep about the tank and he asked me to take a photo of the odometer and fuel gauge. The representative also had a proper conversation with a prior customer who is likely from the same geographic region as himself but did not provide that same level of service to me. I don't need to be pampered, I'm just saying bare minimum service levels need to be had with everyone. Gave avis a try but won't be renting with avis again after this experience.

Extremely long wait time to get the car. After completing paperwork only I was informed the car is not ready, and it will take about 20 min. After waiting 40 min, I was offered a different car, but the payment was increasing, due to different insurance (LDW) rate. I did not accept the increase, so I was to wait some more. Finally, after 1 hour I received the car. I arrived at the rental location exactly when I booked the car, Hertz could have been ready at that time too. By the was, I was not the only one. Almost everyone had to wait for their cars.

The car was excellent and in excellent condition, but there were a lot of hidden fees that the company kept silent about. When choosing a car, the price on the website was $68 for two days, with hidden fees they charged $412 for two days. This is not pleasant, the company must inform customers about hidden fees. I will never go to Budget again because I feel cheated.

My arriving flight was delayed by a few minutes. Then, for no obvious reason, we waited 30 minutes to get our checked luggage. I was 15 minutes past the ‘pickup time’ that I had entered on kayak, and the desk was closed. After a frustrating call to the Budget Call Center, I was told the airport location closed at the exact time I had booked the pickup for, and there was nothing they could do for me. A warning when I booked it and/or a call or text before they closed up for the night would’ve saved me a lot of middle-of-the-night frustration at the airport.

Agency had a long (several hour) wait for cars upon arrival. Item left in car (hat) and, even after notifying the agency within minutes, they could not locate the hat. We received follow-up the next day due to the agency not having a record of us returning the car. Overall, a disorganized operation.

Full size SUV is not a ford edge similar to high lander. Car was not clean when picked up and we had to identify multiple scratches and dents not included on the form so with no attendant outside we had to walk back inside to the rental counter to add them to the form before leaving (extra 20 min process)

I rented a car through kayak only to be told by the vendor on arrival that they were sold out and the online merchant who sold the deal to me neglected to give them any contact so that they could let me know. This was discovered after my ride left leaving me stranded on an unfamiliar road in an unfamiliar city in the cold at 5 PM when essentially everything was shutting down and derailing my plans completely. It looks like you over sold and now are pawning me off on the third party (carrentals.com) for resolution “in a few days.” The reservation was paid in advance for a rental that KAYAK was claiming to guarantee and failed to deliver. On your own website you write “we work hard as the world’s leading travel search engine to get our users the information they need so they can plan trips the way they want, confidently.” In big bold letters no less! What a crock, this was my first experience booking through you and I’ll be sure to tell everyone I know about my experience with KAYAK. Finally I request again you either secure a car so I may complete my delayed travel or refund what I paid. Thank you.

Pickup was very poor. The staff at the front desk were very nice and professional. The problems began when selecting and picking up the car. We were asked to check the condition of a black car in an closed garage with poor lighting. Next to impossible. Then you have to show the problems to an agent who has some sort of screen to look further. About a dozen people were all leaving at once and so it took the better part of an hour from being shown the car to actually leaving the airport. Once we got it out into the light it was obvious we had missed a scratch. Upon dropping off, the process was very fast. However I wasn't given a receipt, and the one promised to my email never came. So now I have to chase it down. The car itself was otherwise fine, and was problem free.

The National Car Rental staff at the YYC (Calgary) were super efficient and helpful. We got a brand new Chrysler Pacifica. The car itself was excellent. The gas tank was only three-quarters full, however. We noted that as we were exiting. The lady at the exit was kind enough to mark it as only half full. The drop off was also great, with super friendly staff upon arrival. We very much recommend National Car Rental at YYC.

The phone numbers were useless, nobody ever picked up and the online took multiple tries to get a confirmation cancellation, I finally went to another company and would not ever try the company again.

Overall: if you have time and patience, it might be worth it. But, be aware that you are sacrificing efficiency for those savings. If your time is money, recommend finding another option. Professionalism: The staff were incredibly overworked but also did not move with a sense of urgency. Customer Experience: Lineup of customers looking to drop off keys and pick up their rental were combined. It took 45 minutes before getting service. Cleanliness: The location was incredibly messy. Value for Money: the price is ok, as long as you have your own insurance (they will upsell you). (The Routes franchise would likely be very concerned by the overall experience at this location, not great for the brand)

Car pick up was disastrous. Be prepared for all sorts of insurance problems. You must prove that you have $65,000 in insurance. They try to upsell you their insurance. Their price per day for out of province is astronomical all sorts of added costs. Took two hours to get the car. Car was the most banged up rental car I’ve ever had.

There was not an airport shuttle as advertised. Just a car that could not fit everyone at once. Also there was a mandatory insurance charge added at the pickup that was not disclosed by kayak. Then a mileage fee that was also not disclosed previously. I ended up paying $100 more to ace than what was advertised on kayak for only a 2 day rental. Id have never booked through kayak if I knew that would be the case and i wont be doing it again.

Pros:

It's honestly hard for me to think of something I liked. The lady who picked us up from the airport was nice. Overall it was horrible.

Cons:

It says they are at the airport, but they are actually 20 minutes from the airport, after you have to wait 20-30 minutes for them to pick you up. Coming back to the airport you need to factor in at least an hour because they only have one small shuttle and you do not know where it will be in route.

Cons:

Shuttle never showed up at airport to pick up because my pickup time was close to closing. Reservation had incorrect phone for car rental place. Number was to a local hotel, therefore getting direct contact with car rental was a hassle. Had to book a car with different company at airport.

Pros:

I liked that we were able to have unlimited driving allowance. It was a bonus having a vehicle with command start.

Cons:

The vehicle didn't have bluetooth. The windshield had cracks in it and continued to crack as small chunks of snow hit the windshield (it was a Jeep). When I booked the rental, I received a detailed invoice stating I would be charged $137 CAD but when I went to pick up the car, I was charged $178 CAD. When I brought it up, I was told I had to call in to the website which was closed. It was upsetting ever since we picked up the car. I would not recommend Economy Rent a Car to anyone. I would gladly pay more to have a better experience at just about any other rental agency.

Pros:

The price is very good, and the staff was friendly. They even called the night before to see what time I landed and asked for my flight info going over what their pickup process was going to be.

Cons:

This company takes a while to pick you up and get you to their offsite location (20-30 min) which is a small room inside a hotel. The car didn’t have enough windshield washing fluid which could have made the trip up the mountains very dangerous if I didn’t catch it while I was still near civilization. They were very picky while checking the condition of the car with me. Had me use my phone flashlight as it was dark out so they could write down ever scratch and chip on the body (and there ended up being a considerable amount) which makes me glad that I took the insurance (who knows if they missed a tiny scratch?) The vehicle was past due on an oil change for over 2,000 km at the time of pick up. My reservation was for a Toyota rav 4 or similar ( I love Toyota’s) and their only options were a dodge pickup truck, or 3 types of kia’s.
