My wife and I arrived in Sicily in the month of November. Before we set out, our friends asked why we were travelling to an island known for its stunning beaches on the cusp of winter.
I muttered something about avoiding tourists, but the truth was far simpler. Winter Sicily was a cheaper Sicily, and the creeping cold meant we could just about afford the trip.
