The expansion of HVO renewable fuel across the country continues. You might remember how there is a push to use HVO instead of – or with – diesel.

Hydrotreated vegetable oil is a fossil-free biofuel made from waste and by-products from the food industry.

Now Circle K has added three more locations where you can get the fuel. Just make sure your engine is compatible – check with your manufacturer. HVO alternative fuel means up to a 90pc reduction in carbon emissions over regular diesel. The new pumps have been added at Circle K Monaghan, City North on the M1 and Kill South on the M7/N7 in Co Kildare, bringing its total number to eight sites.

The company has allocated more than €2m this year towards HVO projects.

Its own logistics fleet, responsible for more than 1,000 truck deliveries weekly, is now running entirely on HVO. This has led to a reduction of up to 90pc in carbon emissions.
