Ford’s new electric Explorer SUV will cost from €42,120. Here from September, Ford says the European-built SUV can travel up to 602km on a single charge.

That particular model – the Select 52kWh – can also charge from 10pc-80pc in around 28 minutes but it will be late in the year before orders can be taken, with deliveries expected from early 2025.

The five-seater Explorer is 4.61m long. There are two trim levels, Select and Premium, and a small range of options. Expect Select to have partial Sensico trim, 19-inch wheels, seven-speaker sound system, electric driver seat with massage and memory, front heated seats. There is also adaptive cruise control, connected navigation and more.

Premium trim will have panorama roof, Matrix LED headlamps, ambient lighting, premium Sensico trim, hands-free electric tailgate and 20ins alloys. There is a 14.6ins adjustable touchscreen which, if you move it down you get a secure storage spot. There is also a 17-litre centre console with enough room for a laptop.
