Cupra has unveiled two new models, the Formentor and Leon, designed to catch the eye and further imprint the brand in the public mind.

A rarity in these times, they have introduced a powerful new petrol engine in the Formentor and the Leon Sportstourer.

It pumps a mighty 333PS with torque-splitter technology and Akebono brakes.

Both car line-ups also have a new generation of plug-in hybrid (eHybrid) which generates 272PS.

It is capable, they claim, of covering up to 100km in pure electric range.

Power trains include four different technologies in all: TSI (petrol); mild hybrid (eTSI); TDI (diesel); and eHybrid (plug-in hybrid).

The Formentor is the company’s bestseller in the compact SUV market and it is pitted against myriad rivals in the highly competitive segment.

Both cars have a new generation of infotainment system with a high-fidelity 12-speaker audio sound system.

Inside there is the digital cockpit and a larger 12.9-inch infotainment system.
