Yves at Brother Hubbard, Ranelagh: A tasty feasting menu and €10 corkage makes this a great option for groups – but it needs refining

The set menu is priced well and it’s next door to one of the city’s best independent off-licences

I never visited 29A Ranelagh when it was a branch of McDonald’s, or when it was the Brazilian barbecue restaurant Rio Rodizio, but I doubt it looked as good as it does now, in its reincarnation as a third outpost of the ever-popular Brother Hubbard and with a sleek fit-out of its long room.

We are here on a Saturday night to check out Yves — clever! — and its feasting menu, which is offered a few nights a week.
