I could measure my pregnancy in lockdowns rather than trimesters. I found out I was expecting during the first lockdown, and gave birth in the depths of our third level 5. Almost every part of it was affected by Covid-19, and all of the restrictions the virus brought with it.

I was at the 20 week scan on my own when they found an anomaly. Two days later, at the follow up, I couldn’t look at my boyfriend as he said goodbye to me at the hospital door because I didn’t trust myself to be able to stop crying. Inside a kind midwife told me to call him, and said security would let him in. I started to tremble. I’d read in the paper that they only let the partners come too if it was bad news, so I thought that the baby was gone.
