Ann Marie Hourihane: The 2 Johnnies’ show is culchie-bloke heaven, but ‘2FM Breakfast’ listeners deserve better

Every time they say goodbye, I wonder why they haven’t already left. The 2FM apocalypse has been running for what feels like weeks in the newspapers, with much commentary by people who are not, one suspects, regular listeners to the programmes concerned. You have to wonder what all the fuss is about.

And so we come to Drive It with (and soon without) The 2 Johnnies. And also 2FM Breakfast with Doireann Garrihy, Donncha O’Callaghan and Carl Mullan. Garrihy is, of course, leaving. The fates of O’Callaghan and Mullan, and also of Aifric O’Connell, who is in the studio with The 2 Johnnies, are unknown. Jennifer Zamparelli has already left after 10 years with 2FM.
