“In the tumult of modern life, we need again to be still and listen. Let reading be your compass.” Wise words from Ireland Reads Day ambassador, 2023 Booker Prize winner Paul Lynch. On February 24, we are being encouraged to take time out to “Get Lost in a Good Book”. Libraries across the country are hosting a range of exciting and interactive events for all ages leading up to the day and on the day itself. Further information at irelandreads.ie.

​MoLI is accepting applications for the Edna O’Brien Young Writers Award 2024. There are 15 free places on a creative writing retreat from July 8-12. Young writers (aged 15 to 17) will be mentored by one of our leading writers and will get published. Awardees will also meet publishers, authors, and literary academics. The closing date is March 5 and applicants will be notified in May. molI.ie
