Meet Hydrock, now Stantec's Digital Building Safety team

3rd Jul 2024

From new roles to a new regulator, the requirements of the Building Safety Act have been the biggest shake up to the industry for decades.

It needs time and focus to understand, so we've gathered a team of experts from across the industry whose sole focus is guiding projects through the new process as smoothly as possible.

We have established a dedicated digital building safety team, with backgrounds in information management, BIM and building control.

From bespoke training to digital support through information management, we can help you understand what is required and find the right solutions.

But it’s not just about compliance – our team understand that a shift in the industry’s culture is necessary for real change to take place.

Our approach goes far beyond current regulatory standards, promoting competency and ‘the right attitude’ as standard.

Neil Newcombe has joined us as Building Safety Systems Director to lead the team. Working closely alongside our other disciplines, including our fire, MEP and structural engineers, he will be leading our digital building safety team in assisting clients with putting a robust digital golden thread of information in place.

“A few weeks ago marked the 7th anniversary of the Grenfell Tower tragedy, which ultimately led to the implementation of the Building Safety Act—a pivotal step towards a safer future,” said Neil.

“The presence of the team confirms Hydrock, now Stantec’s position as industry leaders, embracing the new role of ethics, responsibility and competence in the way buildings are designed, constructed and occupied.”
