2.5 stars I never thought I would rate any of Rainbow Rowell's book so low, but here we are. I adored several of her earlier books, but this one didn't work for me. My problem with this novel is the timeline. Or rather timelines, plural. There is a lit ...more |

Review posted in 2024 It was hard for me to write a review for this book. It was too close, too intimate. I read the book in 2015 and posted my review on my personal website, but not here. Not until now. It is time, I guess. The protagonist of this nov ...more |

Compared to the prior books in this series, the mood is darker in this novel, and the plot more convoluted. No fluff at all. Instead of a lighthearted adventure, which was a stamp of these tales until now, the gloomy, toxic motifs are emerging. I'm n ...more

This one is a novella, short, charming, and absurd. A birthday party for a magical house that is turning 1400 on Sunday. Need I say more?

This charming story continues. Contrary to my expectations, this series is one long story. You have to read the books in order, starting from #1, to understand what is really going on. No stand-alone novels here. It is not my favorite type of story, ...more

LOL. Yeah, critique is always more fun to read than praise, although I must admit I rarely write reviews for books I dislike. I tend not to finish them.

Hello Olga, thank you for the compliment on my reviews. I hope you enjoy them, even when they are scathing (perhaps even especially when they are scathing).
Thanks for the request, and it's nice to meet a fellow daydreamer :) I'll be checking out your reviews too.
Hi, Kyra.
