I'm the author of "Battle of Ink and Ice: A Sensational Tale of News Barons, North Pole Explorers, and the Making of Modern Media" (Viking, 2023). I've been a freelance journalist for nearly 20 years and have written about travel and culture for The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times, The Paris Review, and dozens of other international publications.
