Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Harry Potter, #5)

Despite this being the longest book in the series, I read it quicker than all the others.
Here’s three things I really loved about it:
1. Harry and Sirius- they never had much time together but the time they did have really influenced Harry’s development, a few wise words from a sincere friend (or godfather) can go a real long way. And this scene was perhaps the most powerfully written in the series for me, we all know what happens next:
2. Dumbledore’s Army- Harry, Ron and Hermione have always taken matters into their own hands; they’ve never waited for someone to come along and save them. And here they have got so many great characters involved in their heroics, which leads me onto my next point.
3. Luna Lovegood- because the weird people are always the best people. Luna’s by far my favourite character because she is so completely herself in all her colourfulness; she’s often ignored, avoided and even ridiculed as a result but secretly she is brilliant. The world needs more Luna Lovegoods. I always thought she had far more chemistry with Harry than Ginny ever did.

I love the order of the Phoenix and dumbledores army. The politically subversive plotting in this one gets me all gung ho and wishing to join some secret vigilante society. A hundred pages to go for me before I comment more :)

I love how they get more complex as the characters aged, they all started so innocent and become increasingly dark and morally conflicting.

This is probably my favorite book of the series. I ran across this excellent article.

Yeeeesss I completely agree on all three points, especially Sirius. He was such an important character emotionally speaking (for both me and Harry!). Love this book.

No clue, I read it 4 years ago- I remember getting through it quick though.

I loved this one for Sirius especially, but I have to admit it's my least favourite one in the series, not because it's not great, but because there was just too much going on for one book. The thing is, I love all parts of it, but to me it didn't have one main plot like all the others, and if it was split into two books, I think I'd've enjoyed it better. Plus, am I ever going to forgive JKR for killing off Sirius? Nope.
I agree with all of this Sean! Luna Lovegood inspires me in everyday life to just not take everything so seriously and try and look at things in a different light 😍
Finally! I find some people who share the total love I have for Luna. For years I have said she would have made life after Voldermort so much more interesting and full of surprises than Ginny ever would. (less)
thankyou so much i agree so much i love Sirius i love when they go against Umbridge and start DA and even more i LOVE Luna she is the best.
