A beautifully built world with compelling characters but no real end. It wraps up abruptly with only lightly sketched details to tie up plot lines. Frustrating to read through hundreds of pages of a long book, much in Victorian cadence, to not have a satisfying conclusion.

TXGAL1 I even reread it, thinking my initial review was harsh (because I usually love all things Neal Stephenson.) Nope. It was not too harsh
