These graphic novels are obviously cute, but they’re getting a little boring and repetitive to me.

Sometimes this series kind of feels like an after-school special that’s trying to lecture me on teenage or woke topics in a slightly infantilizing way. That’s not to say that that’s always bad (certainly not!), but it doesn’t really lead to a particularly good story for people above a certain age.

Also, considering the childish, wholesome vibe of the overall series, I found it a little awkward that the whole plot of this installment was about Nick and Charlie wanting to have sex. It just felt a bit out-of-place in my eyes, but that could just be a me thing.

'Heartstopper' series:
Volume One - 3.0 stars
Volume Two - 4.0 stars
Volume Three - 2.5 stars
Volume Four - 4.0 stars
Volume Five - 2.5 stars

Companion Novel:
Nick and Charlie - 3.0 stars

Melody I feel the same, I even gave volume four 1 star because it wasn't interesting enough for me anymore :(

Imme van Gorp @Melody — Ah, I’m so glad I’m not alone in feeling this way!😅

ceruleanboy It's kind of bittersweet to feel that these books aren't for me anymore, so glad that I'm not the one who feels like this

ceruleanboy not the only one**

len ❀ is a little inactive :( that’s so fair. because it’s YA i didn’t mind it, and i think the sex added some realism because they’re teenage boys growing and experiencing these feelings lol. sorry you didn’t enjoy it though!

allison ☆ I see what you mean and how this does starts to seem repetitive and a little boring😶. I never think about this series it just feels average😞.

message 7: by Rain (new)

Rain Not the after school special 🤭

message 8: by A (new)

A Mac This one seems kind of unbalanced, and I can certainly see how the series is probably feeling repetitive at this point. Fair review, Imme!

Imme van Gorp @ceruleanboy — yea, I get what you mean. It’s always a little sad to realize when you’re outgrowing certain types of books…😔

message 10: by Imme (new) - rated it 3 stars

Imme van Gorp @elena — Yea, but it doesn’t read like YA for me though. I feel like the vibe is more Middle Grade😭😂

message 11: by Imme (new) - rated it 3 stars

Imme van Gorp @allison — “average” is literally the perfect word to describe this series lolll🫣

message 12: by Imme (new) - rated it 3 stars

Imme van Gorp @Rain — im sorry but it’s the truth okay?😭😅

message 13: by Imme (new) - rated it 3 stars

Imme van Gorp @Mac — Thanks!💜 I already felt like the series was a little overhyped from the start, but I feel like every installment is just the same thing over and over again🥴

message 14: by Nazanin (new)
