Here's the thing, the first 40% of this book was great. I was genuinely confused on the bad ratings. Then that 'Riley Sager thing' happens and it all goes drastically down hill. I find it hard to believe that the same author wrote the first and second half of this book.
If I had to hear Naomi lament about how 'broken' and 'different' she was for another second, I would've thrown my headphones into the river. I swear Naomi legit thinks at one point "I don't know what he sees in someone as broken as me" okay, 2008 Tumblr post, keep it in the drafts.
I'm so frustrated because the beginning was so good.
iykyk but what point did the man doing the woman's makeup serve? And why not explain how he was an expert at it? I'm confused to this day about that scene.

I gave it 2.5 stars, totally agree. It read like YA to me and it was very predictable. I was disappointed.

He said his mother was beaten up by her ex boyfriends so he got good at doing her makeup. (I didn't like the book either)

I agree. I don't understand the rave reviews. I thought Naomi whined a little too much, it was a bit predictable and the "twists" were a bit meh.
Yes the makeup scene for real.. I'm at the turning point now just past that. I agree first 40% was great this middle part was awful. The twist just started and now I'm intrigued
