did not like it

Truly a contender for the worst book i’ve read this year.

Incredibly racist and so much talk about rape. I had to skim through an entire conversation of a woman having an affair and talking about her rape fantasy over dinner.

This book was boring and hardly about the shark, you guys.

Spielberg really did a service to this absolute buffoon of an author and thankfully, when he was done with it, the film was nearly unrecognizable from it’s origins.

Who fucking orders egg salad and a glass of milk at a diner🤢

Margaret M - (too far behind to catch up although trying to spend more time on GR) I’ve never had the desire to pick this one up. I think I was right. Excellent and honest review Sunny 💖

message 11: by ReaderTron5000 (new)

ReaderTron5000 Rare film was better than book situation. How on earth the author thought rape and sharks go well??

Sunny (ethel cain’s version) @Reader my thoughts exactly 😭

message 13: by Kelly (new) - rated it 1 star

Kelly I just got to the Rape Fantasy and it's a hard stop for me. It totally threw me, I came for Shark Drama and have gotten little to no Shark Drama.

Sunny (ethel cain’s version) @Kelly right?! ew in so sorry. disgusting 🤢

message 15: by s.penkevich (new)

message 17: by Jade (new)

Jade its crazy how much worse this is than the film adaptation. ive literally ONLY heard awful things about this. will stay FAR away from it for my own sanity!

Sunny (ethel cain’s version) @Jade it blew my freaking mind. the book is almost unrecognizable from the movie. thank the shark gods!!

Hannah I would eat that, but I wouldn't order it at a diner lol

Sunny (ethel cain’s version) @Hannah same hahaaa

Kelsey Martin THIS!!! I was so excited to read about gore and a shark massacring (don’t judge me) and what I got was a weird author who wrote some of the worst characters I’ve ever had the displeasure of reading😭

Sunny (ethel cain’s version) @Kelsey i would never judge you because SAME!! what even was this 😭

Kim-Lost-In-A-Book Oh wow. I've always thought I should read this since I love the movie but now, not so much. Thanks for doing the hard work for the rest of us but also sorry it's so bad!

Sunny (ethel cain’s version) @Kim hehe no worries at all! if you do read it, would love to hear your thoughts!

message 25: by Pip (new) - rated it 3 stars

Pip Pirrup (Liar Liar) This is so true! The conversation with Hooper and Brody's wife about sexual fantasies lasts like 50 pages!

Sunny (ethel cain’s version) @Edward LITERALLY!! it was such a trip - and not the good kind 😭
